تهدف الدبلومة الى تأهيل كوادر على اعلى مستويات التدريب من الناحيتين النظرية والعملية (الفنية) فى مجال معامل التحاليل الطبية. يتسنى للمتدرب بعد انهاء البرنامج التدريبى بنجاح اما ان يحصل على وظيفة متخصص بأحد المعامل الطبية أو ان ينشأ معمله الخاص بعد ان اصبح ملماً بالتفاصيل الفنية لأعمال التحاليل الطبية.
تتألف الدبلومة م 32 ساعة تدريبية تدرَس على مدة ثمانية أسابيع . تتم العملية التدريبية بمقر الأكاديمية خلال المحاضرات النظرية وداخل احد المعامل الطبية المتخصصة كتدريب عملى على المحاضرات النظرية.

Outlines:

INTRODUCTION TO MEDICAL LABORATORY
(2 hours lectures 4 hours Lab.)
An introductory medical laboratory techniques course designed for students interested in the medical laboratory. Phlebotomy, urinalysis and basic techniques in hematology, serology and bacteriology are included.

CLINICAL HEMATOLOGY

(4 hours lectures 4 hours Lab.)
Hematology and coagulation are introduced. Understanding of and a degree of proficiency in performance are expected in the determination of red and white blood cell counts, differential and reticulocyte counts, hemoglobin concentration, hematocrit, red blood cell indices, sedimentation rate and basic procedures involved in the studies of coagulation. Principles of laboratory safety and use of equipment are included.

IMMUNOLOGY

(2 hours lectures 2 hours Lab.)
This course introduces the basic principles of Immunology and the immune response. It covers the basic serological tests performed in an immunology laboratory.

IMMUNOHEMATOLOGY

(2 hours lectures 2 hours Lab.)
This course introduces the basic principles of blood banking. The course will cover ABO and Rh blood groups, antibody identification, and crossmatch procedures done in the blood bank laboratory.


CLINICAL BACTERIOLOGY

(2 hours lectures 4 hours Lab.)
Techniques of isolation, cultivation and identification of bacteria of medical importance are demonstrated and practiced.

CLINICAL CHEMISTRY

(2 hours lectures 2 hours Lab.)
Clinical chemistry is introduced. Principles of instrumentation, automation and quality control are included as they apply to the determination of glucose,urea, cholesterol, proteins, enzymes and other tests performed in the clinical laboratory. Principles of the test procedures are also included.

(2 hours lectures 4 hours Lab.)
Techniques of isolation, cultivation and identification of bacteria of medical importance are demonstrated and practiced.
