B. Practical Component (30 hours) :
The lab-work serves three main functions:
• Students obtain practical experience in applications of basic techniques in molecular biology and genetic Engineering, including:
- DNA isolation from different sources
- DNA amplification (PCR)
- Construction of recombinant DNA
- Bacterial transformation
- Proofing of transformation and construction
- Prokaryotic transformation
- RT-PCR
- Southern blotting
- DNA sequencing
- Protein isolation
- Protein electrophoresis
- Isozyme electrophoresis
- Protein purification
Students learn to write laboratory reports based on research data and theoretical background.
The laboratory experience serves to aid in the Understanding of the materials covered in lectures.
